Gym & Strength Training
Building discipline through progressive overload. The gym is one of the few places where I show up for myself no matter what, and that consistency bleeds into everything else.
Why I Train
The gym is one of those things that gives back more than you put in. I go because I said I would, and that matters more than it sounds. If I cannot take my own commitments seriously, I have no business expecting anyone else to. Every session is a small proof that I do what I say.
Every session is a small win. Show up, do the work, leave better than you came in. That rhythm carries over into everything else. Starting the day by doing something hard on purpose makes the rest of it feel more manageable. It is not magic, it is just math.
I am not training for a competition or a photo. I am training for the version of me that does not quit when things get uncomfortable. The weights do not care how you feel that day. They just want to know if you showed up.
How I Structure My Training
The idea is simple. Do a little more than last time. One more rep, five more pounds, cleaner form. That is it. It sounds boring but small things add up fast when you stay consistent.
`r`nI am not on a strict diet and I am not going to pretend otherwise. I still enjoy food. But there is a voice in the back of my head that reminds me I want a body that actually looks like I go to the gym. So I pay attention without being obsessive. Enough protein, not too much junk, and I still eat the things I like.
Beyond Looks
Looking better is a nice bonus. The part that actually matters happens in your head. Hard things get easier when you do them enough times. Patience beats intensity almost every time. Showing up on a day when you do not want to is worth more than five good sessions back to back.
Every PR reminds me that I am more capable than I gave myself credit for. Self-doubt is loud but it is usually wrong. The body adapts when you give it what it needs and get out of its own way. That lesson shows up everywhere, not just in the gym.
The best version of me is the one who keeps showing up even when it is not convenient. The gym is where that gets practiced.
